If you are feeling stuck, confused or dissatisfied about your life, Reiki could be your next step. Reiki is a hands-on healing energy rediscovered in the 1800s by Dr. Mikao Usui, a Japanese Christian minister. Reiki is not a religion and is practiced by people from all walks of life, spiritual traditions and philosophies.

My first exposure to Reiki in the early 1980s was watching a Reiki practitioner help someone with a bad migraine at a seminar. The practitioner stood behind the person with her hands about two inches above the head for a few minutes and the headache subsided. I was amazed at the simplicity. I learned Reiki 1 and Reiki 2. After Level 2 I knew I wanted to teach Reiki and took my Level 3 (Reiki Master).

So what does Reiki do for me or any other practitioner or client who receives it? It makes my life work. I do Reiki just about every morning as I wake up, simply placing my hands on my heart with an intention of enjoying the day and sharing love and gratitude. My life flows, I am not stressed and if I have an ache I can simply place my hands on my body and the pain shifts. It helps me sleep, it energizes me and relaxes me. And as a practitioner my energy is never depleted as it is 'universal' energy that is channelled. Reiki can be done on the body, above the body or by using distance healing. In a session, you are fully clothed and normally you lay on a massage table, however, it can be done anywhere.

Interestingly, you don't have to believe that Reiki will work for it to work. I've worked with dozens of skeptical people who were in such pain/discomfort they were willing to try anything and were amazed when their pain or stress subsided or left completely. Reiki works on all levels, mental, emotional, physical and spiritual. It's the best stress buster!

Reiki is simple to learn. In Level 1 the student learns the basic hand positions to do treatments on others and for themselves. And Reiki is one of a few modalities that you can actually do on yourself! You receive initiations (attunements to the Reiki energy) in each level. In Level 2 you learn distance healing and mental and emotional healing. Level 3 is where you learn how to teach Reiki and you become a Reiki Master. Many people take level 3 simply to receive more healing energy and use it for their family and themselves. You don't have to teach it. Many people only take Level 1. It's entirely up to you.

Reiki is a wonderful 'next step'. It opens your heart, heals at deep levels and is so gentle and easy to learn. It can also be used for very practical things like helping in exams, relieving a toothache, calming upset people and sending wonderful positive energy at work or at home. It's changed my life!
